PT Kresna Graha Investama Tbk (KREN) and its subsidiary, PT M Cash Integrasi Tbk (MCAS), announce their plan to invest in PT Sistem Mikroelektronik Cerdas Co-Design (SMC), for its core proficiency in technological advancement and market access to over 60 million potential customers across Indonesia.

This investment, with a respective stake of 20% and 30%, is the start of a KREN and MCAS 2018 strategic landmark to strengthen their position, as the country’s leading digital business integrator and digital distribution champion in Indonesia, respectively.

SMCSMC, a frontrunner in Information Communication Technology (ICT), Media and Microelectronics development, has provided solutions for ‘Smart House’, ‘Smart City’ and ‘Power Management SCADA’ programs in Indonesia since 1999.

SMC’s Smart City program is a regional-based application with integrated multi-services ICT as the basis of its development, while SMC’s Power Management SCADA is a technology-based solution with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) to provide real-time energy consumption reports.

SMC has also been working on prepaid energy metering (KWh Meter) and vending system token generator projects, they include: Beverly Dago Apartment, Dago Suite Apartment, Sudirman Suite Apartment, Sanggar Hurip Apartment, Telkom University Dormitory and ITB Jatinangor Dormitory in Bandung, West Java; Kubikahomy BSD in Serpong, West Java; Aeropolis Apartment, Skylounge Apartment and PU Bintaro Apartment in Jakarta; Student Castle Apartment in Jogjakarta; and Lagoon Tamansari Apartment in Manado, North Sulawesi.

SMC has partnered with Indonesia’s Microelectronic Center of Bandung Institute of Technology for some 10 years, through its National Advanced and Strategic Research in Information Technology and Microelectronics (RUSNAS TIME). In 2011, the Company teamed up with PLN, Indonesia’s State Electricity Company, to develop Digital Power Meter and Prepaid Electricity Meters.

The first phase of this project was implemented in ~700,000 subscriber domiciles across Indonesia. SMC has steadily improved Two-Way Prepaid Meter, with a pilot project, ‘Online Smart Meter for Two-Way Communication’ (Meter Listrik Pintar Komunikasi Dua Arah, also known as MELINDA), currently running in 764 locations.
